In terms of sales, no carmaker in India could get even close to Maruti Suzuki’s. It also leads the passenger vehicle segment with a 42.29% market share. Several factors contribute to the popularity of Maruti Suzuki’s vehicles among Indian buyers. Mileage, affordability and low running costs are a few factors. Another reason is the image and brand value. The company’s name is so strong that it can easily attract customers.

Maruti Suzuki Alto: Presently, it is one of the bestselling entry-level cars in the country. Back in the day, the sales of the Alto even overtook the Maruti 800.
However, the hatchback is available with petrol and CNG engines. It has a 0.8-litre petrol engine that generates 46bhp and 69Nm of torque. But when driven on CNG, the power reduces to 39bhp and 60Nm of torque. The Maruti Suzuki Alto is only available with a five-speed manual transmission.
The ARAI-claimed mileage ranges between 22.05kmpl and 31.59km/kg, depending upon the engine and transmission.
On the safety front, the Alto has dual airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, etc.
The starting price of the Maruti Suzuki Alto is Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes up to Rs 4.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The CNG variant starts at Rs 4.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso: The company markets the S-Presso as the “mini-SUV” because of its stance. It is one of the most popular hatchbacks in its segment. Inside the cabin, the S-Presso features a touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display, and a multi-functional steering wheel.
As far as the S-Presso’s specifications are concerned, it has a 1.0-litre petrol engine that generates 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso also comes with an optional CNG kit.
The S-Presso is available with a standard five-speed manual transmission. It also gets an optional AMT gearbox that is exclusive to higher variants.
As for passive and active safety features, the S-Presso gets dual airbags, a reverse parking camera, and a speed-alert system, to name a few.
There are four trims on offer: STD (O), LXi (O), VXi (O), and VXi+. The CNG kit is exclusive to the LXi (O) and VXi (O).
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso’s price starts at Rs 3.86 lakh and goes up to Rs 5.56 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki Eeco: This vehicle is ideal for large families and commercial purposes because of its seating and storage capacities. The Eeco is available in five-and-seven-seat configurations.
However, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco used to lack basic safety features. From 2019 onwards, the carmaker has provided those basic features. The MUV has dual airbags, rear parking sensors, and ABS with EBD as standard.
As for Eeco’s specifications, it has a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 73bhp and 101Nm of torque. It gets a standard five-speed manual transmission. Many people might not know this, but the Maruti Suzuki Eeco has a rear-wheel-drivetrain (RWD)!
It gets an optional CNG kit, but the engine tune remains the same as the petrol engine. However, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is solely available with a five-speed manual transmission.
The ARAI-claimed mileages of the petrol-powered and CNG units are 15.1kmpl and 20km/kg, respectively.
The price starts at Rs 4.63 lakh and goes up to Rs 5.94 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Celerio: The Maruti Suzuki Celerio is best known for being the most fuel-efficient vehicle in India. Let’s begin with the powertrain. It has a 1-litre Dual-Jet petrol engine with an output of 65bhp and 89Nm of torque.
The transmission options include a standard five-speed manual or an optional five-speed AMT gearbox. Customers can also opt for a CNG-spec Celerio.
Depending upon the engine and transmission, the ARAI-claimed mileage of the Celerio ranges between 25.24kmpl and 35.6km/kg.
In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio gets an engine start/stop button, a 7-inch touchscreen unit, keyless entry, etc. On the safety front, the Celerio has dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors, to name a few.
The Celerio can be had in four trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The CNG option is exclusive to the VXi trim.
As for June 2022, the price of the Celerio starts at Rs 5.25 lakh for the base model, LXi, and goes up to Rs 7 lakh for the top model, ZXi Plus AMT (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki Swift: This hatchback is popular among family-oriented buyers, rally racers, and working individuals. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is a tuner-friendly car.
Inside the Swift, the driver gets a new instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch display between the analogue dials. It also has an idle start/stop system, steering-mounted controls, an auto HVAC system, etc.
As far as engine specifications are concerned, it gets a 1.2-litre Dual-Jet petrol engine with an output of 90PS and 113Nm. The hatchback gets a standard 5-speed manual and an optional 5-speed AMT.
